Terms and Conditions

These terms apply when you use Holiday Puffin. By using the site you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

This site is run by Holiday Puffin. You can contact us at holidaypuffin@gmail.com.

What Holiday Puffin is

We find flight, holiday, ferry and hotel deals and link to the companies that sell them. We are not a travel agent or tour operator. We do not sell travel and are not a party to any booking you make.

If you ask, we also introduce you to a licensed Irish travel agent who can plan and book a trip for you. The agent sells the trip, not us.

Prices and availability

Prices on the site are checked regularly but come from third parties, and fares change quickly. A price may have changed, or a deal sold out, by the time you click through. The price and terms shown by the seller at the point of booking are the ones that apply.

We work to remove deals once they expire, but we cannot promise every listing is current at every moment.

Booking with third parties

When you click through to book you leave this site. Your contract is with the airline, hotel, ferry operator or agent, under their terms and conditions and privacy policy. Questions about a booking, changes, cancellations and refunds go to them.

Some of these companies pay us a commission when a booking starts here. This does not change the price you pay.

Trip requests

  • Sending a trip request is free and puts you under no obligation. We pass it to one travel agent who holds a licence from the Commission for Aviation Regulation, once you confirm your email.
  • The agent pays us a fee for the introduction. It does not change what you pay, and we do not see or take any part in the price you agree with them.
  • Any booking is between you and the agent, under their terms. We are not responsible for the agent's advice, prices or service, but tell us at holidaypuffin@gmail.com if an agent lets you down and we will follow it up.
  • We cannot promise an agent will take every request. If none does within three days, we close it and tell you.
  • Please give accurate details and only send a request for yourself or with the permission of the person travelling.

Travel information

Destination guides, school holiday dates and travel tips are general information. Check passport, visa, health and entry requirements, and official school calendars, with the relevant authority before you travel.

Accounts and newsletters

You are responsible for keeping access to your account and email secure. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in each email. How we handle your data is set out in our privacy policy.

Advertiser listings

If you pay to list a deal on Holiday Puffin:

  • The price is the one shown before you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see your card details.
  • A listing runs for 30 days from the day it goes live, then comes down automatically. Each listing is a one-off payment, not a subscription.
  • Every listing is reviewed before it goes live. We may decline a listing that is misleading, not genuinely bookable, or unlawful. If we decline it before it is published, we refund the fee in full.
  • You confirm that you are entitled to sell what you list, that the price and details are accurate, and that the images and text you provide are yours to use.
  • Listings are marked as sponsored. We may remove a listing that turns out to be inaccurate or that is no longer bookable.
  • If you give an email address or phone number instead of a booking link, it is shown on your listing so travellers can contact you directly.

Listing extras

  • Homepage spotlight (€39): your listing is shown in a Sponsored section on the homepage for 7 days from the day it goes live.
  • We write it for you (€19): we write the introduction, accommodation text and questions from the notes you give us, before the listing goes live. You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
  • Extras are paid with the listing, or separately if you use a membership listing. If we decline the listing before it is published, we refund the extras in full.

Vendor membership

  • Membership costs €299 a year and includes 9 Standard listings and 1 Featured listing, each running for 30 days as described above. You need to be signed in to join and to use your listings.
  • It renews automatically each year and Stripe charges the card on file. You can cancel at any time from the billing page; your listings stay usable until the end of the year you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
  • Listings reset at each renewal. Any you have not used by the end of a membership year lapse and are not refunded.
  • If we decline a listing you used a membership listing for before it is published, that listing is returned to your membership.

Travel agents: trip requests

If you register as an agent to receive trip requests:

  • You must hold a current licence from the Commission for Aviation Regulation, which we check before approving your account, and tell us if it lapses. We may pause or close an account at any time, for example after complaints from travellers.
  • Each request is shown with its tier and price before you claim it. Claiming a paid request deducts that price from your prepaid credit; free requests (city breaks and trips worth under €800) cost nothing, up to five in any 24 hours. The first agent to claim a request gets it exclusively.
  • Credit is bought in packs by card through Stripe. It does not expire and is not refundable as cash, except where the law requires. Prices are shown before you pay.
  • On the first of each month we email you a statement of the leads you claimed, refunds and credit for the month before.
  • We may offer you pay monthly. You can then claim paid leads beyond your credit, up to a limit we agree with you. On the first of each month we invoice what you owe, payable within 14 days. While an invoice is overdue your limit is paused, though you can still claim with prepaid credit. We may change or withdraw the limit at any time; anything already owed stays payable.
  • If a traveller's phone number is wrong, they do not respond after three attempts, the request is not genuine, or they are already your customer, you may ask for a refund in the portal within 48 hours of claiming. Approved refunds are returned as credit. We decide refund requests fairly and may decline them where the pattern suggests misuse.
  • You receive each traveller's personal data as a separate controller. You must contact them within one working day, use their details only for the trip they asked about, not add them to marketing lists without their own consent, keep the data secure, and delete it if they withdraw or if no booking follows within 12 months.
  • You are responsible for the advice, quotes and bookings you give travellers. We do not guarantee that any request will lead to a booking.

Using the site

Do not misuse the site: no scraping at a volume that affects the service, no attempts to break security, and no submitting false or harmful content. The site's design, text and branding belong to us or our licensors.

Our responsibility to you

We provide the site as it is and cannot guarantee it will always be available or free of errors. We are not responsible for travel booked with third parties, or for losses caused by a price or availability change on their side.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer, or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. The date above shows when they last changed. These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim where you live.
